Thirty-five years after the ground-breaking original Broadway production, this UK and West End premiere of the sensational and iconic musical Dreamgirls comes to the Savoy Theatre.

Inspired by R&B music acts in 1960s America, Dreamgirls transports you to a revolutionary time in American music history. Dreamgirls charts the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio, from Chicago, Illinois called ‘The Dreams’, as they learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous and features the classic songs ‘And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going’, ‘I Am Changing’ and ‘One Night Only’.

This long-awaited new production will be directed and choreographed by the hugely successful, Tony and Olivier award-winning Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!) and will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.

With book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger, the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett opened in 1981 and subsequently won six Tony Awards®.

Please note Amber Riley will not be performing on any Wednesday evenings up to 5th February 2017.  From 6th February 2017 she will not perform on Monday evenings or Wednesday evenings.

PLEASE NOTE: The producers cannot guarantee the appearance of any particular artist(s). Amber Riley is currently scheduled to play the role of Effie White for 7 out of 8 performances per week. One of the alternates will perform on 1 out of 8 performances per week, currently scheduled for Monday evenings. This is subject to change and may be affected by holiday, illness, or events beyond the producers’ control.

Sonia Friedman Productions announce today that Ruth Brown and Karen Mav will support Amber Riley in the role of soulful singer ‘Effie White’ in Dreamgirls when the previously confirmed Ms Riley is not scheduled to perform (Wednesday evenings). Amber will star in the role for seven performances per week when the Tony Award-winning musical has its UK premiere at the Savoy Theatre with preview performances from 19 November and Opening Night on Wednesday 14 December 2016.

Sonia Friedman Productions has announced that tickets for the long awaited UK premiere of Tony Award-winning musical Dreamgirls go on sale Friday, 1 April, 2016. The brand new production begins preview performances at the Savoy Theatre from 19 November with Opening Night on Wednesday 14 December 2016.

The Olivier Awards with Mastercard 2017 are set to be the biggest yet, as they make their debut at the incredible Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April.

The nominees were announced today at 12pm and the full list can be found below.

Opening in the West End in July 2017 Sienna Miller and Jack O'Connell will star in Benedict Andrews' (Young Vic) production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

The Tennessee Williams masterpiece will be at the Apollo Theatre for a strictly limited 12-week run beginning previews 13 July, ahead of a 24 July press night. The run is set to end 7 October.

Multi-award winning actress, writer and comedian Miranda Hart will make her West End debut bringing life to the role of Miss Hannigan in Nikolai Foster's production of Annie.

The musical, based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strips, has become a beloved classic spawning multiple award-winning Broadway and West End runs as well as critically acclaimed films.
